The Shy But Ferocious Dweller

Ursa, Ursus, or simply Bear. This creature has caught my interest since i study at Junior High School. Not only because of it's posture, but also it's strength, it's behavior, and many other things i can't explain. Some people see it as a fearsome creature. But i don't know why i always like it. A bear might be cute when it's not harmed, but when it does, it will be a ferocious creature, more frightening than a lion

Bears are mammals of ursidae family. Bears are classified as caniformia suborder, or literally "like a dog", doglike carnivores. There are only eight original species of bear. Bears are widespreaded, their habitat includes North America, South America, Europe, and also Asia. The polar bears mostly are carnivores, while the giant pandas are mainly herbivores. The other six species are mostly omnivores.

Bears have a great sense of smell. Despite of the heavy posture, they can run fast. They are also a good swimmer, and even a good climber. Bears uses caves as their den and also as a place to do hibernation. When a bear moan, it is a mild warning to potential threats, when it growl, it is a strong warning, and when it roar, it means a stronger warning and are ready to attack, it also used to proclaim territories and used as intimidation. Bears are diurnal creature. It means that it is active at both the day and the night.

Bears are usually a shy and will avoid human. All bears are physically powerful and are able to fatally attack a human. When a mother feels her cub is in danger, it will be protective and also aggressive and will also attack ferociously. Species such as polar bear, brown bear, and american black bear are dangerous to human.

The famous bear from america, the grizzly bear or Ursus arctos horribilis lives on Alaska and western Canada. Long ago, it lived on almost every area of North America. It is one of the brown bear (Ursus arctos) subspecies. It is known for it's behavior of fishing salmons at the river by many people. When the salmons migrate from the ocean to the upstream of the river, or so called salmon run, the grizzly bears goes to the river and stay there to fish the salmon. Despite of that, plants make up a large portion of it's diet, approximately 80-90% of it.
